PARENT FAMILY SUPPORT ADVISOR 

Part-Time Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2021

Interim Head Teacher : Kat Burgess

16 hours per week during term time plus Inset and additional hours in school holidays if required

Salary Grade 12  12-19: £21,589-£24,799 paid pro rata of full time (37 hours)

Avalon is a growing special school catering for young people aged 11 to 19 years with a range of learning difficulties, including pupils with profound and complex medical needs and is seeking to recruit a PFSA to start September 2020.

We are looking for a PFSA who:

·         Is an experienced, reflective practitioner with backgrounds from either education, early help, social care or the voluntary sector

·         Is resilient and dependable and is committed to high quality support for young people

·         Is organised and hard working – willing and able to go the extra mile

·         Have a commitment to transforming the lives of young people and their families to overcome the social, cultural and economic barriers to learning

·         Have the ability to be creative and innovative in supporting young people and their families, often in challenging circumstances

·         Is able to work collaboratively as part of the wider staff team

As a Parent and Family Support Adviser, you will provide continuity of support through transitions and beyond to those young people who are unable to attend school and who have been referred or are on roll at our school.  You will also develop and provide knowledge of family services available in the local community and signpost to available support.  The right candidate will demonstrate a commitment to Avalon School’s key focus, which is on enabling all of our learners to develop skills for the whole of their life: academic, personal, social, communication and independence skills. Fundamental to our pupils’ achievement of these key skills is our partnership with parents/carers.
