Speakers from Avalon visit the Houses of Parliament

Our 4 pupils who took part in Somerset's Children's' Parliament impressed the judges so much that they were given a shared prize of an all expenses paid trip to visit the houses of parliament!
The excitement began as we left for London from Castle Cary train station and boarded our train.  One pupil especially enjoyed her ride on the train despite being so nervous beforehand. We then caught a taxi through London to the houses of parliament ready for our tour.

Our tour guide showed us around the historic building. One of our speakers really liked the patterned floor and is planning to recreate the design in art. Two of our pupils were voted in as 'prime minister' and 'euro MP' in the workshop!  The pupils enjoyed their London visit and represented our school brilliantly with their fantastic behaviour throughout the day.  Well done all of you. Maybe one day you'll have your own seat in parliament!
