Avalon Sixth Form and Jean Rees link

Students and staff from the Sixth form have set up a  link with students and staff from the Jean Rees Centre in Bridgwater.  The collaboration focuses on building social relationships and effective team work. Each week the group splits into two mixed school teams, who are given challenges to solve as independently as possible.

Here you can see a team of students working together on a Lego challenge: to build a tower that could support an egg. Both teams succeeded in the challenge but needed quite a bit of encouragement from staff as it was their first time working together.

Here you can see two students working together to complete a puzzle challenge. Staff noticed how much more independent the young people had become in their second task, as they learnt about the principles of good team work, such as choosing a leader and helping one another. We look forward to celebrating further progress as the weeks continue!
