TEACHER - Full-time, permanent contract.

Salary Range: MPS 1-6 + 1 SEN point (£2149), NQTs welcome to apply

Core responsibilities: Class teacher, teaching the full breadth of the curriculum.

Start Date: April 2020 (Sooner if possible)

Avalon School is a special school for 55 pupils aged 11-19 years with a broad range of cognition and learning needs. It is a good school [Ofsted 2018]. Our pupils enjoy learning, enabled by a skilled and dedicated staff team. Avalon is a growing school, with numbers due to increase across the key stages for the next academic year.

The curriculum is designed to enable pupils to take their next steps in to their adulthood with the confidence, skills, independence, determination and knowledge they need. Providing an extensive curriculum that is rich in opportunities to develop skills for life, work and wellbeing is a core value.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant -  Casual hours contract with 6.33 hours per week (minimum) guaranteed until 31st August 2020

Salary Grade 14: £18,426 (£9.55 Per Hour) paid pro rata of full time (37 hrs)

Due to the increasing size of the school, Avalon are seeking to recruit Teaching Assistants as soon as possible working on a casual basis.  These roles are predominately to cover periods of absence and additional cover.

Avalon is a growing special school catering for young people aged 11 to 19 years with a range of learning difficulties, including pupils with profound and complex medical needs. Our teaching assistants support pupils’ learning and personal care. 

The right candidate will have a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting pupils’ learning in school, as well as in the community.

As we continue to extend our provision for vocational learning, and preparing our learners for their adult lives, we also welcome applications from those from trade and vocational careers who have a commitment to enabling learners with SEN. 

There are also opportunities for Teaching Assistants to progress and develop through the TA progression pathways.
