Individual Pupil Targets

·      All pupils have personalised targets, with high expectations of what they will achieve. These targets feed into their Education Health Care Plan [EHCP] and its review.

·      Progress towards targets is monitored termly. This informs the implementation of strategies to support progress where appropriate.

·      Parents work in partnership with teachers and also with learners, as they are able, to determine independence targets. Increasingly parents are supporting their young person with this learning at home, which, in turn, increases opportunities for success.

Key Stage 3

For pupils at stage 1 of our Avalon curriculum targets are set in identified priority strands within the profound curriculum: those which constitute the key barriers to their next steps of progress in communication, independence or well-being. The number of targets would vary from one individual to another to ensure appropriate levels of challenge for all.

For pupils at stages 2 and 3 of our Avalon curriculum personalised targets are set in:

English and maths - These are rooted in their end of Key Stage target [either P-Level or ARE].

Skills for life – These are rooted in three strands:

·       Learning and work

·       Independent Living

·       Community inclusion

Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form

All learners in these key stages have personalised targets set in:

English and maths  – These are rooted in their end of key stage targets and  expressed in terms of accreditation levels they are working towards.

Skills for life – These are rooted in three strands:

·       Learning and work

·       Independent Living

·       Community inclusion
