We commission the equivalent of half a day a week of educational psychologists' time, to work as part of our school team, with our pupils. Our educational psychologists are Dawn Starley and Kate Lee. Their prioritised work load includes, for example, using their expertise to support whole school priorities, consultation, training and individual casework. This enables us to respond more quickly with multi disciplinary expertise, in the interests of our pupils' progress, development and well being.

Dawn and Kate have provided the information below about their approach to case work.

'As educational psychologists we support the needs of children and young people through a graduated approach, based on the Assess, Plan, Do, Review process. We work with children and young people from birth to 25 years, and those responsible for their care, by working together through shared goals and strategies to promote emotional wellbeing and mental health, learning and general development.

Psychologists support change through work with school staff, parents and carers as the key people in the child/young person’s life. By working together we can help the child/young person review how they see themselves and their values, belief and capability with the prospect of making a sustained change in their behaviour, learning, attitude and approach.'

In addition, we commission Kate and Dawn to lead our outreach provision for local mainstream schools. Please see our outreach area of the website for information about this.
