Avalon's Outreach Programme

Avalon School's Outreach Offer

Following consultation about Outreach provision, Avalon is is providing an outreach programme for pupils in Key Stages 2 & 3 who attend mainstream schools.

The courses will run for two full-days and offer pupils with EHCPs the opportunity to participate in multi-sensory activities whilst working in small groups.

The sessions aim to build and promote:

  • Self-esteem
  • Coping Skills
  • Sore sense of self
  • Sense of belonging

Learning Support/Teaching Assistants who accompany the pupils will be given the opportunity to progress skills in these areas whilst working with an EP in a small group to:

  •  Learn about alternative strategies that support wellbeing, resilience and Growth Mindset
  •  Progress their skills in these areas working in a small group with an EP
  •  Prepare to support learners back in their own setting to build on and develop the learning from these sessions

The courses are being delivered by a team of Educational Psychologists, Thrive Practitioners and Avalon’s Health and Wellbeing Lead.

Schools whose pupils attend must be able to transport the pupils to and from the sessions and be willing to provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of the programme.

The programme outcomes will be measured and evaluated, and it is anticipated that the programme will be offered again during the next academic year (2019/2020).
